Thanksgiving.

Is Thanksgiving two or one word? Anyway, my Thanksgiving was pretty uneventful, well, kind of. I went to Orlando to have Thanksgiving with my family. It was really my Nanny's niece and her children, and their children.
Which means that my 1st cousins, second cousins once removed, third cousins, and possibly my third cousins once removed. Not to sure about the last one.

If you don't know what "once removed" is, it means that my second cousins once removed is they are TWO GENERATIONS younger then me. Like my first cousins are in the generations i am. But my second cousins once removed means they were not born in the generation after me, but the one after that. Its confusing but I understand because I know my extended family out to like my fourth cousins, no lie. My family reunions will consist of over 200 people. True Story.

Anyways so I went to see my family in Orlando with my Nan (AKA Nanny which really means Granny), my Aunt Kim, and my first cousin (;]) Emmi. OH! And my mom and dad. Pretty fun!
We ate appetizers, caught up, then ate food, i got light headed, then played horse shoes, talked about college about the whole time (what a bore.), then finally went home.
The dysfunctional and fun part of the family lives in Ohio.

I'm not going home for Christmas so I can make enough money to support myself in Tampa 'till i get a job. I consider "HOME" in Ohio, that's where i was born. Not to be confused with where i was partly raised, Georgia. Not to be confused with where i live now, Florida. Not to be confused with where I'm about to move (No idea.) But this is all not to be confused with where i will continue going to school, South Florida.

Confused yet? :]

Anyways that was my Thanksgiving day, I hope yours didn't suck! Oh and I, for once, did not stuff my self with food. It was a nice day over all.

Oh and NOW IS THE TIME TO DECK THE HALLS!
Holler.

Another failed attempt

Mk so I hate turning things in late or not remembering to do something, yet I've been late on my blog multiple times.I HATE THAT.These blogs have been the biggest thorn in my side. You have no idea. I always have an idea of what to type every week. Then I sit down and try to type a blog and it all goes out of my head.Well I guess I can talk about where I was last night. Most everyone that knows me knows I don't drink and i defiantly don't party. I have enough fun as it is with out doing that stuff so why add it and have to worry about getting caught, getting my scholarships taken away, and loosing my parents trust? Not my idea of fun.My idea of fun is when you had a HORRIBLE night the night before and a friend calls you up and goes "We're all going to the beach tonight, wana come?"HECK YES! So a friend from high school, my boyfriends roommate, his girlfriend, my roommate and me all pack up my friends car and head out. I thought we were just going to goof off. But then my friend pulled out a mini fire starter camping kit. And my boyfriends roommate, Adam, pulled out his guitar. So its the end of November, 7 o'clock at night, and I'm sitting on the beach around a tiny fire starter log hanging out with great friends and the sound of an acoustic guitar in the background. Add some beer and 1/2 naked girls and you got Laguna beach. That was mean, but the truth hurts kids.Anyways. My friend from high school, Katelyn, and I make a "Winter wonderland" in the sand. We build a snow man out of sand (so I guess you call that a sandman?) "sand" Angles and finally a Santa hat in the sand. That was so much fun, yet out hand just about got frost bite. Then we just sat around some more. My roommate invited some friends I she knew from her church. They were so much fun. And i had a bad, no horrible, night the day before so it was really nice to get away from everything. We finally left when out camp log, (not fire), went out.Threes a lot more i didn't include but I don't think anyone really cares.OH Friday I threw a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend. That was good times. When I go back to my dorm I might put up some pictures. It was a themed party and everyone dressed up as animals. It was ballin'.

Truely, deeply, honestly...

I have NO IDEA WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT.

Maybe the blogger gods will bless my fingeres and mind later on today and will give me an idea of something better to write about.

But as for now all you are getting is what my day was about.

So i started off the day having a meeting with Miller. That was at 8:45. But I didn't get to his office 'till about 8:55. I know, no big surprise that i as late, but I was TRUELY going to be ontime. But i woke up late, which means that I was in a rush and all in a huff. So i ended up going to the SOC building, walking up to flieghts of stairs, then saying "shit." I walked back down, and road my big to Cooper Hall. Finally i got up there and had my meeting.

I then proceded to Starbucks and whet to biology until 10:30.

Now heres teh rest of my day:

Meeting with TA about paper: 11:15

(I went to that and I got a 92! WHAT WHAT!)

Go back to my dorm, check up on something, write blog, clean.

Make a quick trip to Wal Mart

Go and meet with my academic advisor and FINALLY get something done about my classes. I'm excited :]

Go meet with Mary-Anne for a bible study.

Go back to dorm sometime and meet with deb about psych

find sometime to take a shower.

Migh go to a jewlery making party.

Um yea, thats my day in a nut shell.
I hate being busy.

Hello classic lady...

So Rachel and I got on a topic today, which I have put a thought into.
Heres a question that will mess with you until we finally find out.
What will our kids generation look back and say our generations Disney classics are?

Rachel and I came up with one for sure, that is Finding Nemo.
Another possibility is Monsters Inc, while a great movie, it didn't get to much hype.
Is aladin in our generation? I believe so, and thats a given, of course its a classic.
But we couldn't think of any more, so maybe they aren't the rememberable.
So i want to know who else thinks there are many classics out there and what are they.
But keep it disney!
Cinderally, snow white, sleeping beauty, yea we all know they are classics. But what is OUR classics.
That we pretty much the extent of the impartant stuf of theconversation. Nothing much, most of it was silence because we were both thinking so hard.
Oh year! Pirates too! But we weren't sure because that isn't a cartoon, maybe just a classic in general.
So I would love to know everyones input!
Thanks :]

draft one- Google Generation

When exactly did this world become to computer savvy? Well, its been said in 1993 when the Google generation was born. Yet, as contradicting as this is, its not computer savvy at all. The Google generation isn’t a generation of nothing but instant gratification, easy application, and short attention spans. All the Google gernation need is instant gratification. No matter how this is meet, it is needed.

The Google generation has no attention span. They can not stay focused on one thing because they are a generation of instant gratification. If a web page is taking to long to load, the Generation will stop and go onto the next website. There are no down time. The generation has grown up in a world of fast internet. Even internet commercials now put up how fast their internet goes. The Google generation has gotten so impatient, that its even leaking over to the elders. One article said that, for the writer, its getting harder to read longer articles. Google generations’ brain has come to the point were they want the next flashiest thing. When the brain can’t be satisfied, it will want to go onto the next thing.

The Google generation isn’t really all that computer savvy either. Its made out to seem that way however. The generation before its to be known as someone who takes up more time on the computer and doesn’t really know what they are doing. They will sit and wait for a page to load, and they don’t mind being patient. However, the Google generation can’t wait. That’s why it seems the generation is so much fast on the computer. They get the first application they can find off the search engine Google. They won’t ready what the application is about, and won’t take the time to actually see what it does. However, the generation before is used to slow computer, and computers that used to cost you a house mortgage. These computer were slow and didn’t have a lot going on for them. So when someone would need an application, they would take the time to find out and research want they really wanted. Downloading an application could possibly take up your whole day. But now that the computer has better graphics, flashier designs, and quicker run time, the Google Generation wants to apply that to everything. They would like to find the first application and BAM! it’s done. However, older generations tend to know more. They also tend to understand that the first choice on a Google search link isn’t always the best. So they will take time to read and understand applications, they are patient.

This whole idea of instant gratification leads to attention span, then attention span leads to how well you truly learn. So what happened to the learning process as the Google generation became more impatient? It all came back to instant gratification. It’s the fact that the generation will just want to see a picture and be done with it. They will not want to sit and read a long explanation to why the people did not cross a river. They would rather see a picture, with people sitting at a river with alligators in it and know that’s why they didn’t cross a river. The generation has grown up on internet giving them the fastest possible information there is.

Since the all information the generation needs is a few flick of some keys away, there is not much need to inter a library to try to find information. Trying to sort through all the ideas and catalog numbers there is, would take twice as much time then it would just typing in the question you have into an internet search engine. So children are now turning away from libraries, but libraries are bringing them back by keeping up with technology. Now things are done by search on a online catalog here at the University of South Florida. Other places now have “ebooks.” Theses are book that are printed in full text online. This makes it easier for students to access the information they need form a desk top. This, once again, goes back to instant gratification. Libaries want to make everything digital. By making everything digital it would be very easy for anyone to access any bit of information they needed. Also if it was digital it would help the libraries become more useful. No student or child wants to search through every book and every page when they can find the same information online. To make it even easier, they just hit “control F” and find a key word they are looking for. Libraries would also like to add ties to online search engines which would also help by making their information more accessible.

All the Google generation needs is instant gratification. It needs it because the generation has grown up in a world were everything it trying to be the faster then the next thing, specially internet. When growing up in a world were everything has been flashy and big from day one, its not that hard to fall into a rut that has all these flashy and fast things. If information is only a click a way, there is no need to trudge around a library worrying if your going to be able to find the information when its truly right at your finger tips online. If life could get any easier, it would. And it would be the next commercial for the “faster internet out there on the market.” All the generation needs is the best and fastest thing there is. This gives a person of the generation fast gratification, which isn’t that horrible because isn’t that what we all strive for anyways?

Well, I'm moving, don't know where yet. But once again We have to pick up our home and move around! Nothing new, its only the 5th or 6th time. But at least this time I get to stay at this school.

Um, I'm not going home for the holidays... WHICH REALLY SUCKS. But then again, it doesn't.

I'm glad last week is over. I had an exam that says if I have A/B's... stressful
Not to metion a 6 page paper wich SOME HOME turned out to be 11 for me... WTF?
Comp stuff was due, which I was late on because I was stressing out so much.
Oh and I'm doing my annoted bibs now... what a slacker eh?

I'm feel confident in saying, yea I should be part of the Google generation, but is it really a bad thing? I guess I'll save it for my paper... oh great, another paper.

I gues the level of the work that college, so far, has thrown at me isn't horrible, but at the same time... ITS SO MUCH WORK.

I will be celbrating my boyfriend and mines one year and 9 month aniversayon halloween. We're staying in instead of getting drunk. yay! I hate drinking. D:

I'm worried that my best friend is mad at me... I feel terrible.
I wish money could buy friendship <3

Family is annoying... and I don't know how I'm realted to them, but I love them... the blood ones taht is.

My aunt, nan, and cousing are coming down for Thanksgiving. To bad that I need to work because my bank account is um how do you say this? DRY! NOTHING! ZIP!

Hello world, I'm ready to work

Hi! I'm Amy, and I tend to be harsh on myself.
No really, i need to work myself way over the top.
My senior year went like this:
Me: I would like to go to the University of South Florida.
Fate: Um, you are going to have to work extra hard to get past me. I kinda had a plan for you to go to community college, thats why you were a mess up your first 3 years :]
Me: No, I'll get in.

Mk so what did i do to change my fate?
I took as many advance classes as my brain could handle, made excelent grades, volunteer over 150 hours at a day camp, oh and don't forget, took more classes then i was supposed to. (I took 5 classes on a block schedual one term instead of the regular 4) Lets not forget AP CLASSES!
... screw them ...

So i was balls to the freaken wall during my senior year. I made sure i covered for every mistake taht i made my first 3 years in high school. I promise, it wasn't easy.
But it all paid off, because now i am at the only college i wanted to go to. Plus my aunt was really proud of me for getting into her alumni school :]

Anyways, so after all this hard work in high school, i figured college would be even worse. Plus, i'd have to have a job on top of everything! Well, i started out so strong. I read every word of every text book. Plus the extra readings. I studied every letter of every note too. I was going to be the best in college, i wasn't going to have free time, i wasn't going to have fun, i was here to study. I knew enough people that I didn't want to meet anyone else. I wanted to do the following
Go to class
Sleep
Eat
See my boyfriend sometimes
Study
Repeat.

Well, that was great. Untill I meet some wonderful people. They are in almost all of my classes. They showed me that i was doing college all wrong, that in fact it was easier then high school in some aspects! I'm not going to lie, Miller, your papers are ridic. But thats not to say about my other classes. My AP preached AND PREACHED about how his class was so much easier, that he gives us more then any college professor would ever give us. And so far, he has been COMPLETLY wrong.

Now, he will be right probably towards the end of my sophmore year, or even the start of my JR year. But as of now i have realized i have taken college way to seriously and it acutally hurt my grades! After i meet my new friends i realized that you have to have fun with everything or else, well, you'll fail at this game. After i started hanging out with these select few, i have realized that i do know how to study, and i should relax. And just because i don't read a chapter in biology b/c all the texts and exams are from the questions in the back of the book and thats all i really need to know... IS OK!

These people really gave me my sanity. I must thank them.

Thanks Rachel, Laura, and Deb. With out you guys I'd be even worse off then I am hanging around you guys right now ;D
Just kidding.
But truely, thanks.

Drama.
drama.
Drama!

What is drama? Well dictionary.com says this:
dra-ma

1.
a composition in prose or verse presenting in dialogue or pantomime a story involving conflict or contrast of character, esp. one intended to be acted on the stage; a play.
2.
the branch of literature having such compositions as its subject; dramatic art or representation.
3.
the art dealing with the writing and production of plays.
4.
any situation or series of events having vivid, emotional, conflicting, or striking interest or results: the drama of a murder trial.
5.
the quality of being dramatic.

Alright, that's fine. But how do you define drama? I define it as pointless interaction. Why do people want to act this way? Do they want the attention on themselves? Do they have a rush when they get themselves into drama? What ever the cause, only them themselves can answer that.
But for me, honestly, drama finds me. I'm not going into details, but here's the thing. I'm tired of drama! So why is drama caused?
Because "he said she said that THEY said that you said this about me."
...
We all know how this goes. All of us have been in this situation more then one time, and if you haven't then your lying.
So why can't people just be mature and come to the person they are having problems with? Why can't the person who said something just to the person they are talking about and be like "Listen, I heard you were dealing crack. Are you?" (It's a joke, haha?) That way person A and person B can talk it out. Well, I place blame on person C, person D, and the group E for getting involve and spreading rumors. Sure, its in our nature to tell a boyfriend or to tell a close friend, but if they go around spreading you information around I got news for you, they ain't that great. I've learned through my high school years just to go up to that person and talk to them, and I've been doing that, but SOMEHOW persons C,D, and group E ALWAYS GET INVOLVED! Why can't people just keep their mouth SHUT? Jesus people, its not your business, STAY OUT! If we wanted you to know, we'd post it on a blog. (... [: ...) Anyways, it just makes me really upset that everyone must know my business. And when someone finds out, its ALWAYS the wrong information.

Take a step back, and as much as you say "I hate drama!" Do you cause it sometimes and never stake the blame? I will take the blame for shit I have said, no lie. If I said it, then I meant to say it. Now, how someone hears it might be a different story. I won't lie to you, there is no point. So from now on, make sure you know your facts before you jump down someone throat

K thanks :]

Really Random

So I honestly don't know what I want to write about.
Well, actually, I do. I want to write about polics. I know my friends, who aren't involved heavily in politics, are sick of me talking. Frankly, I'm tired of the people who talk about nothing. When I mean nothing I mean they have nothing to support what they think. I saw two McCain supports pretty much attack a friend of mine who is a support of Obama. While, and I'll say it, I HATE OBAMA I wouldn't go as far as they did. BUT! She ask the McCain supports "Why do you support McCain?" I looked at her and go "You just opened the flood gates." She kept asking them quetions and asking them more questions, she kind of opposed them, and kind of had some ways to defend her candidate. Yet, she held back. DON'T HOLD BACK PEOPLE! If you support someone, and you are openly supporting a certain canidate, be ready to have a come back. Theres a video everyone should watch and I'll attach it to the end of this blog but seriously, this is what makes my blood BOIL!
Anyways, if I keep going I'm sure I'll piss of the WRONG person in my class, maybe even my teacher. So lets stop there... Just please watch this video. In the video multiple people say that they can't name a single issue that Obama supports. A SINGLE ISSUE BUT THEY ARE STILL VOTING FOR HIM! One girl and her boyfriend even say that they are voting for Obama JUST BECAUSE HE IS BLACK! Come on, no matter WHO you are voting for, thats wrong. Its just as wrong to not vote for him because he is black!

KNOW YOUR ISSUES!
KNOW YOUR FACTS!
KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SUPPORTING!

What if your canidate does win? Lets say McCain wins, lets pick on me. Lets say I was anti war, I was for natural uses of energy (like wind and stuff) and I was for major tax cuts. But I supported McCain just because my boyfriend told me hes a good guy. And I voted for him, and he won! Then he got into office and he completly does NOTHING that I like and he ruins the country. GUESS WHAT! I supported that! I supported ruining our country, I supported everything I hate.

Here's what I do support.
McCain. McCain's ideas, McCains views, McCains everything. Go ahead tell me what he has done wrong! Go ahead, post a comment and tell me everything hes done wrong in congress, I will go TOE TO TOE with you with everything Obama has done wrong too. Candidates are human, they will make mistakes. Thats why in elections I say "Vote the lesser of the two evils."

Do whats right, know what you want and you don't want. Then vote for the canidate who supports the most of these ideas. For once, but away what you have heard and vote for what you believe is right.

Thank you,
I'm off my soap box now.

Song project

Flobots is an up and coming band known to the most of the music world and their listeners. They are activist who, through their music, “tell it like it is.” They have been struggling to get onto the music scene for some time, but once Jonny 5, the lead singer, meet up with his other band mates, magic happened. Every band member was not activists until they joined the group. Now, they are all openly against the government and they openly criticize the government what they do, how they do things, what they don’t do and how plans are executed. The easiest song that exemplifies this is their newest hit “Stand Up.”
The easiest part of the song to show criticism of the government is the chorus, of course. If the chorus didn’t show us the this, the song wouldn’t make sense. The first line, “Stand up,” in the chorus is referring to government to stand up and take charge of other things in the world then just what they are worried about now, such as “…a child with no socks and shoes.” This part of the chorus shows the compassion that we should have for people and not just go to war with others, but actually care for them. “…by a women dying for a loss of food.” All the hungry people out there, its unfair that the government can’t pay any focus to them, but they can fight and fund and fight a war, discussed later on in the song. “We shall not be moved/ if you got more to give then you’ve got to prove/Put your hands up and I’ll copy you.” The people can’t do anything to unless the government does something first. It’s not a single, or a few person, movement to help world hunger; it needs big funding and millions of people to help. And that’s what is being shown here in this quote. Also, the line from the song is showing that if the government would do it first, then “[We’ll] put our hands up and copy you.”
The song gets into the root problems that America is having to. Katrina is the first issue the song mentions. “We still don’t understand thunder and lightning… Now our whole damn city’s torn asunder man” Thunder and lightning are the warning signs that were brought Katrina, so now New Orleans is under water. “We see hurricane spills overrun the land/ through Gaps you couldn’t fill with a 100 tons of sand/No we still don’t understand.” We see all the hurricanes coming and we watch them take over our country, but we don’t try to fix them, we just try to fill the gaps with sand. And now we, the people, still don’t understand what the government is trying to do. Another issue the song tackles is the terrorist attacks, on us and on other countries that directly affects the United States. “We’ve seen planes in the windows of building crumbled in/ We’ve seen flames send the chills through London.” The first line involving planes through windows is talking about the world trade center and when the terrorist attacked us. How the planes are through the windows is how a lot of pictures from 9-11 are shown - all the planes crashed high into the windows. And the second part about London refers to the terrorist attack made on them in 2005, the 7 -7 attacks. Since the United Kingdom is our greatest ally in the war on terror this directly relates back to us. “And we’ve sent planes to kill them and some of them were children.” In this line is talking about how “we” meaning the United states, have sent planes to kill them, meaning the terrorists. But the United states are killing innocents, like children, as well. Because the U.S. has sent planes to kill the terrorist and defend ourselves. Theses lines are all showing the fact that our country will take out innocents and not even recognize the fact that maybe these are some problems with they way we are trying to fix things. We are not paying attention to Katrina, so hurricanes are taking over our land, and we are watching these terrorist attack us but as we are trying to get to them, the government, or U.S., is killing innocents.
A major theme through out the song is the side comments and critizism of the United States government. Such as “Criticize they but who the fuck are we?” In context this means that criticizing other countries about how they are politically and physically set up. This is something we should be doing in our own boarders. This is supported by the previous line “We sit back and wait for the government team.” Another line that helps this is “And who’s we anyways Quimo Sabe?” Quimo Sabe was a nick name Tonto called the Lone Ranger in his Television Series. Lone Ranger was kind of like a police man for all, like the United states is some times called “The world police.” They song also states that “The people want peace but the leaders want war.” Government wants the war and they are not listening to us, “we the people.”
The song is set up to criticize just how bad the government is treating not only us, but the world around us to. The government never stops and tries to ask for our opinion, “we the people did not want war.” The government also tries to bully other countries and show them what they are doing wrong, but never stop to look at our selves, “criticize they but who the fuck are we?” Also, the government will try to fix things that our out of our land, but when it comes to home town problems like poverty and Katrina, they are virtually ignored. This song shows that the government should reevaluate everything, stand up, and actually care about something important. Then the rest of the country will follow as one. “Stand up/ We shall not be moved/ except by a child with no socks and shoes/ If you got more to give then you’ve got to prove/ Put your hands up and I’ll copy you/… So if you’ve got a dream and a lot to do/ Put your hands up and I’ll copy you.”

What pisses me off the most.

During this time of when our, our meaning college students, vote the means the most we don't take the time to actually sit down and LOOK UP WHAT EACH CANDIDATE STANDS FOR! Why WHY WHY WHY would you go through this whole presidential race and support someone you're not even looking up what each candidate stands for! I KNOW WHAT I AM SUPPORTING. I refuse to talk about it with you though, because no one wants to "talk" with me, everyone wants to debate me and tell me why I am wrong. I am tired of hearing people support their candidate and not knowing what the hell they are supporting. I am not just talking about people who are supporting the person I don't want to win, I'm talking about the people who only go by heard say. I believe that it is your duty as a voting US citizen to KNOW what you are supporting.
I will admit that I do not agree with everything that I support from my candidate. BUT! I truly hate everything the opposing candidate is doing and proposing. I am not saying that every candidate is perfect, YOU CAN'T BE! We are all human! But at least you can vote for the person that you think relates to your idea of right and wrong the most.
Just please, if you get ANYTHING out of this whole blog posting project, PLEASE RESEARCH YOUR CANIDATE! Even if it doesn't change your mind at least you know what you are truly supporting.
Thanks :]

So I can't really think of anything...

So I've decided to do this blog on something that has been on my mind all week now. Why are people so against having a relationship with a significant other when you go to college? especially when you go to the same school or when you live with that person? Now, this is where I am coming from; I have been dating my boyfriend, Blake, for a year and 7 months. We meet the second half of our JR in high school. And yes, I'll say it, we are in love. I have dated a few other people and he has too, its not like it is our first boy/girlfriend. We know what we like and don't like and both of us love each other. But back to my point. I had someone tell me that "I believe that you shouldn't go down to college with Blake, that you should go single." Well, at first I thought about it, not like actually doing it but the situation. I thought to myself, I decided on college for Blake (because with out him I wouldn't have went to college) and I decided on USF because he wanted to go here and I loved the school. I applied other places, but fate brought me here. Also, I love Blake why would I want to go break up with him. I already found what I like. Other argued (now here’s my favorite point) that college is about experimenting and finding new people and looking at things differently and seeing what you like and don't like. Well, to be honest, I already know what I like and don't like! Why would I have to break up with someone that I am perfectly content with, and that I love everything about to find out that I don't like what I already know, I DON'T LIKE! This makes me angry if you couldn't tell. One of my biggest pet peeves is someone telling me that Blake and I won't work out. I don't understand how they could POSSIBLE know what me and my boyfriend go through. They might say we fight to much, which we do, and they might say that I show no "compassion," but they don't feel what I feel when I look at Blake. They don't know what I know when no one is around and how cute he is when he smiles. They don't know what I know when we fight its because of, usually, really dumb stuff that we get over real quick. I just wish people could keep their nose in their own single lives, and stop being jealous of my love life because I have what most of them want.
(Sorry if this seems forward, I kind of had a few select 5 in my head at the time of writing this. I didn't mean to make it at all single people, just 5 of them.)

Weekly Post

Oh fun, here we go again. Another post, even though it's only my second post, still. Since I'm not feeling all to well, I'm going to make this an easy blog, nothing controversial. One of my favorite things in life is photographs. Part of me would LOVE to major in photography, but as my father says, "that doesn't pay. The only thing that pays good is business." Hence why I am getting my graduate degree in industrial and organization psychology, but this is subjected to change. My favorite picture is the picture called "War's End Kiss." (For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, here it is: http://www.cyber-cinema.com/british/warsend.jpg) Its so moving. Think about what people must have felt when they heard the war was over. They were so happy they started kissing random strangers! This picture doesn't just evoke simple emotion like, "Awe that’s cute." It evokes curiosity. Who are these people? Did they know each other? Was this planned? Was it truly the wars end kiss? I find it hard to believe some websites but here is one that I have come to believe is true, http://www.loisgibson.com/kissing_sailor.asp. The sailors name is Glenn Edward McDuffie and he wanted to true about his picture to be known. He said he kissed the women because he was so happy that the war was over. He saw a photographer coming and that’s why his wrist is in the weird position. This picture is more about just the people though. Its seeing the joy and happiness of seeing another war coming to an end. Hearing of love ones coming home, and knowing that the ones who have lost their lives for the country was not for nothing. It's seeing the joy and harmony that people have even if it is just for those few weeks or even days. It's seeing these men who fought stand tall knowing that what they did was all for the better of our country. I believe pictures can say this and more. And what amazes me the most is that it was just a lucky shot that will live forever in a symbol of happiness, freedom, and joy for this country. There’s pictures out there that can say this to, and not just black and white photos. The things I dislike the most is when a kid on myspace is like “Look at my photography” and it’s a picture of a cat in black and white. What the hell is that? Well my opinion is a poor excuse for photography. I’m not saying the average Joe can’t take good picture, in fact a couple of people I used to work with now do photography. Some is a hit and miss, others are amazing. Its just the feel for it. I just think photography is an amazing things because it can take one moment, one second, one sunrise, one kiss, and turn it into beautiful history.

Hear the "US AND THEM" story read by the author kind of made me not like the story. He has a real nerdy monotone voice. Kind of like your 8th grade science teacher that couldn't make anything interesting. I really liked the story, don't get me wrong. It's just that the voice from the author wasn't what I was expecting. Now, I’ve heard books on tape and stuff, like the De Vinci Code, so maybe I have a bias because who ever read that story read it in a women’s and a mans voice. With this, I expected a deep voice who has more dynamic then lets say, Dane Cook (my main man). I expected the mother to have a rude condescending voice that was low for a women. But the neighbors voice he really did hit on the head. I also was expecting great things because my comp teacher said “I almost drove off the road listening to this the first time.” So I thought, this has got to be amazing. Maybe my expectations were to high. So all in all the story was good, just not the narration.

*I really can’t think of anything else to say.

As I was reading "Sex, drugs, and coco puffs" all I kept thinking was "How much longer?" Personably it wasn't a good choice for me. I think he tries to compare his life to movies and such, like the "When Harry met Sally" analogy, to he could get his readers to relate. Well, that didn't work out to well. Because one, he just explained it anyways and it went into to much detail. If your going to give an analogy, you should make it so you don't have to explain it. Also, he came off sounding like he knew everything about media. Everything he talked about he compared to some time of media, whether it be song, TV show like Friends, or another movie. It's like that’s the only life he’s ever seen. This guy should get over trying to find shit to write about and just get out there and experience news things for himself, and not through movies. Which kind of leads me to my next point. He always complains about relationships and how they all don’t work out. Well, we’re are all movie stars on a move trailer (this is something else I couldn’t keep myself to stop saying.) And maybe it is his awful dreadful “I know everything about media” personality is turning the right girls away from him. I thought reading “Sex, drugs, and coco puffs” was actually going to be about that, when all in all it had nothing to do with each other.

Reading “Us and Them” wasn’t as dreadful as the first. I actually understood the memoir, at the end though. The story flowed and gave plenty of detail. You can tell how nosey the whole neighborhood was though. The “okra test” and the test to see if the mother disapproved or was against TV by the neighbors shows that this neighborhood had a sense of insecurity because they had to know what the “Jones’” were doing (like keeping up with the Jones, get it?) I like the fact that he acted like he was waiting on friend that never came, everyday. Its like the parents really didn’t know what was going on. Also, I liked the fact that he put himself into the story as a young child. Like you got excited and you felt like he felt when he was talking about “organizing” his candy. Now, that’s something everyone can relate to. My favorite thing about this story is the fact that he said he never became friends with them to take away the mystery. “I could have done it on weekends, but friendship would have taken away their mystery and interfered with the good feeling I got from pitying them. So I kept my distance.” How ever, I didn’t like the fact that just because they didn’t have a TV pretty much makes them aliens. But I guess in that time you really didn’t have another form of entertainment like we do, such as computers, better radio, and iPods.

"lord please..."

Just to let everyone know, this will be the one of the hardest things i will ever have to write.

It was December 12, 2002. Only a couple days after my family and I drove straight thought the eastern united states boarder to come to my grandmothers side. She was the first one in my family to die, hardest one till this day. She practically raised me since my parents had to work to support three children. We are now all grown, both my brothers just graduated or just starting out, in college. And here’s me, a girl who has been through a lot. I'm just starting college as well and to be honest, I don't know how I’m going to reach my goals. The best I can do is go day by day. But the one thing that I think about every day is God. And the reason I think about God everyday and I know in my heart he exist is not only on faith, but one the one faithful night that my grandmother passed away. I was only 12, had to be rushed out of my 7th grade science class. As I'm standing at my fathers truck I asked what was wrong. A older 8th grade class was walking by and usually I’d be embarrassed as hell at this point because my “daddy“ is there are I‘m about to cry, but this time I didn't care. When my father looked at me and said "Amy, we have to go to Ohio." I knew what was wrong. She was really sick now. She fell earlier that week, and we thought things were going to get better, but it only took a week for her to finally pass on. For the best I supposed, but part of me will always want her back, forever. She was fine the day before when I talked to her. I remember so clearly talking to her about my new karate belt and her roommate named Roberta. I thought she was joking because that was my aunts name and it took her forever to convince me that her roommates name was truly Roberta and she was truly there. It still makes me smile. So I got home, and we pack quickly. Knowing that we have to make it to the hospital by the night for she might not be alive by sun rise. We drive, and drive, and drive. More green signs pass my face and more lines I count as we are driving out the 12 hour drive. I couldn’t fall asleep due to the fact of my adrenalin rushing through my veins and trying to comfort my mother. She was so close to my grandmother. To get over a death like your own mother is so hard, specially if you realize how close they were together. This point in time I didn’t realize just how strong she was, but looking back at an older age, you realize just what it took to not completely break down like she really wanted to. That came later, and only lasted a few minutes. Its hard to imagine to me how she did that, to me that’s stronger then superman. And I slowly realize what is happening to me. At only 12 it is hard to comprehend how things move, reproduce, decay, and live (even if you do learn it in biology class). We finally get to the hospital, third floor, and we hear the news. She’s in a coma like state, and she won't be able to respond very well, if at all. My mother tries talking to her. She was the closest to her, even though we lived in another state "Mom,” my mother said as the words quiver out of her mouth, “are you ready to go?" She looks back at my mother and says "No, I am not ready." as her last words. The night goes by and all the family waits, taking each breath as carefully as they can because they are scared that if they take a break to quick, everything will fall. The first night goes by and I want to spend the night, but I’m not allowed. My father takes me out of the room as I see another tear fall from my mothers cheek. I go home, and cry until my body can't keep itself awake any longer. This whole week I went through is still a blur. All I can remember are three specific days. The next day I remember is the day she past. I'm sitting next to her bed, holding her hand, only me. And in my head I ask "Lord, please... if everything is going to be ok let her squeeze my hand." And she did. Not a long squeeze, just a short little squeeze enough to let me know that the Lord is watching over everything. So maybe it was a fluke. That’s all I could keep thinking. That’s what I thought until I asked the Lord again. This time my cousin and my uncle were holding her hand. I said as loud as I could in my head "Lord please.... if everything is going to be ok have her squeeze my cousins and uncles hand." Not but 30 seconds later my cousin came running out of the room yelling "Grandma squeezed my hand, Grandma squeezed my hand!" (I hate this, I want to as something here to make it sound right but my comp teacher won't let me, so I’m going to put it awkwardly some where else.) Every time I start to stray away or question my Lord on something, I look back and remember this day. My Grandma passed that night. With Me, my mom, dad, oldest brother, and sister in law in the room. "The ones who truly cared about her." My mother quotes that every time she talks about her. That night will have changed my life later on down the road. I'm not saying I was a changed Christian from that point on, although I should’ve been, but God knew what was in store for me. God knew.

Well I'm not a virgin blogger anymore

To be honest, I've never blogged before. Oh, and I am horrible with grammar and I can't spell anything. :] So I'm allowed to right about anything for my comp class in college and I decided my first blog would be a question that my boyfriend brought up today. Should women be allowed in the military? I think that if they want to do it they should be allowed. My old boss was ripped, i mean like 5% body fat, she wanted to serve her country and she did, for a long time. Shouldn't it be a personal decision based upon the women signing up? She knows the risk, so isn't it her fault is something happens? BUT! Here is where it gets me and this is why I'm not exactly sure if I should support what i think or not yet. It has been tested and proved that if a women is in a troop of men, other men will sacrifice themselves to save her. It nice, but the that women knew what she was signing up for, should she really be protected? Also, when a women is captured, a lot worse things happen to her then a man. But, my mind keeps going back to the fact that if a women signs up, she knows the risks and she should evaluate then before signing her life away. I would like to know others peoples view points before I set mine in stone. I’m still leaning towards the side that women should be allowed in, but I was wondering if others could tell me additional facts or opinions to why that would be a bad idea.
Thanks!
